Our bravest contributors have shared with us some of their more earnest efforts from the misty past. Scary Bush should not be reviewed while in the process of drinking liquids, and the reader assumes all risk.

THE VOLUTE OF ATHENA'S PILLAR
Keith Moul (way back)
In her scroll the marbled future can be read,
while I see her in low relief, crying;
I can hear her torment; she is dying;
beneath the weight of Hymettus, she is dead.
The obscurely simple lie of presence;
it is not now what is, or what should be,
that lingers, seldom fervently, with me.
I do not know of time, but only sense,
spiraling through that senseless mass
for which they have lived, dying all, alone;
an emptiness, left never to atone
for loneliness; to gratify, all pass.
